X Card Guidelines

Home » X Card Guidelines

Welcome to Meeple-a-thon gaming table.  This is a fun-filled event where you can unleash your imagination and embark on exciting adventures and games! We want to make sure that everyone feels comfortable and enjoys their time playing, so we have a special tool called the X Card that you can use if something doesn’t feel right during the game.

This X Card is a 5×7 card with an “X” symbol on it. Every table will have this card available for every game, so it’s easily accessible to you. The X Card is your way to communicate with the game master (GM) and the other players without having to explain everything in detail. It allows you to stop the game if you encounter something that makes you uncomfortable or if you’re not having fun. Here’s how it works:

  1. Keep an eye on the X Card on the table, and make sure you know where it is during the game.
  2. If something happens in the game that you’re not comfortable with, such as a scary scene, a phobia, a character being cruel, or anything else that bothers you, simply touch the X Card icon.
  3. When you touch the X Card, the GM will pause the game and ask you if you would like to discuss what made you uncomfortable. You can choose to explain or not—remember, the X Card is meant to give you the power to stop the game without having to provide a detailed explanation.
  4. The GM and the other players will respect your decision and work together to make adjustments to the game. They might change the scene, modify a character’s behavior, or find a different way to continue the story that makes you feel more comfortable.

Remember, using the X Card is not a bad thing. It’s a tool designed to ensure that everyone has a fun and inclusive experience. Your feelings and comfort are important, and the X Card helps us create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.  Do not abuse it

If you’re new to gaming or have any questions about the X Card, feel free to ask the GM or any of the event organizers. We’re here to help!

So, let’s get ready for an incredible adventure at Meeple-a-thon. Keep an eye on the X Card icon, and touch it if you need to. Together, we’ll make sure that every moment of the game is enjoyable for you and your fellow players. Have a fantastic time exploring new worlds and creating unforgettable memories!

Happy gaming!
