Meeple-a-thon KC is the annual, family-friendly, game-based charity event benefitting Hillcrest Platte County’s Young Adult Housing program.
This year Meeple-a-thon will feature gaming tournament events such as Warhammer 40k, Freeblades, Magic: The Gathering, and more! In addition to interactive activities like a Paint and Take table, local vendors, open play tables, a game library to play from, and more, all alongside our annual charity raffle.
The Hillcrest Platte County Young Adult Housing program provides safe housing, and educational/employment guidance for homeless young adults and parents between 18-24.
Meeple-a-thon KC was founded in the summer of 2018 by David Seim while working with Hillcrest Platte County. At a young age, David found himself as a member of the homeless community, and quickly learned that homelessness and poverty can be a vicious cycle. Sleeping on couches when available, finding income, and basic means of survival were challenging. As time passed, he was able to learn needed life skills to work his way out of the cycle, but many are not so lucky.
Being introduced to Hillcrest Platte County was a calling close to his heart, and he found his passion caring for those who were in a situation very similar to his own. After participating in numerous charity gaming fundraisers, the idea for Meeple-a-thon was born.
Four years later, the call to help those in need find shelter, resources and a path out of homelessness is stronger than ever, and our team has grown. This year will be our biggest event ever, with a home for every kind of gamer and an event for the whole family.
Come help us give a hand up to the homeless, and participate in a huge range of activities, such RPGs, board games, card games, miniature painting or one of our incredible events like our annual charity raffle!
